Belle and Sebastian's wistful, jangly brand of pop is finally ready for the road. The band will head out on a 20-date North American tour in 2024.
The 2023 dates were canceled due to the illness of frontperson Stuart Murdoch, who posted in January: "As you might be aware my health took a dive around November 2022. While I am hoping that I will improve over the coming months, we felt it would be a safer route to cancel this tour and leave a clear path to recovery, rather than take a risk and have to cancel at the last minute."
The group's latest Late Developers was out in January, right on the heels of their May 2022 album A Bit of Previous. All the hallmark elements are there on Late Developers, with a bountiful harvest of texture and variance. Singer/violinist Sarah Martin tracks showcase her swooping vocals, intertwined with homage-tinged girl group vibes, while Stevie Jackson's "So In The Moment" harken back to feel-good times of bubblegum pop on Shindig and Ready, Steady, Go!
