Devendra Banhart has just premiered new song Middle Names ahead of releasing a new album later this year.
Ape In Pink Marble is due for release on 23 September but you can listen to its opening track now.
Banhart joking describe the record to Q as being “lobby music for a 1980s Japanese hotel”, though he told our writer Eve Barlow that the album is a mix of dark and light, with some of the songs underscored by more serious feelings.
“Four fathers who were very close to me died last year,” he explains of some of the sadder tones. “One of them was my biological father. You gain a new sensitivity, but also an abyss of sorrow.”
