It's only been a little over four months since Annie Mae Bullock, the recording artist far better known as Tina Turner, died from natural causes, leaving behind a musical legacy that's destined to be pored over for decades to come. This is a longwinded way of saying that she won't be forgotten anytime soon, but to make absolutely, positively sure that doesn't happen, Parlophone is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Turner's official debut as a solo recording artist, which began in September 1974 with the release of her album Tina Turns the Country On!, with Queen of Rock 'N' Roll, a collection of the singles released by Turner during the course of her solo career.
The collection, which is scheduled for release on November 24, is being issued as a 5-LP set and a 3-CD set, but there will also be a single-LP version - a decidedly truncated version, mind you - that contains a dozen of Turner's most notable singles.
The set kicks off with "Whole Lotta Love," Turner's take on the Led Zeppelin classic, and takes listeners through her commercially-underwhelming '70s singles before entering into her comeback years in the '80s and beyond. The collection closes with “Something Beautiful," a reworked version of her song "Something Beautiful Remains" by producer and longtime Turner collaborator Terry Britten. As Britten himself put it (and as he was quoted in the press release for the new set), “Dear Tina, the experience of working with you could never be repeated, but in my heart something beautiful remains. Love, Terry."
In addition to the classic tracks contained within the set, there's also a foreword penned by noted Turner duet partner Bryan Adams, who - as you might expect - also appears on the collection with "It's Only Love." Some of Turner's other duet partners within the collection include David Bowie and Rod Stewart.
The full track listing for all the versions of the set can be found below.
