What was initially billed as a Porno for Pyros reunion back in July has now been revamped as a goodbye. But not without new music!
After a 26-year touring hiatus, Porno for Pyros are now set on a 2024 North American 16-city trek. And as a bit of a surprise, the group is also beginning to debut new music, including the new ocean-conscious single "Agua," to be released on November 16 via Rhino.
Perry Farrell shared his excitement for the launch stating: "Now we're here, and that same heart, that same desire to make music together, has returned. Getting together with these guys has been some of the most fun, the happiest times in my life."
Originally inspired by the band members' close encounters with dolphins on their globe-trotting surfing trips of the '90s, "Agua" reflects their contemporary environmental concerns. The single is part of a forthcoming self-released EP set to drop in 2024 ahead of the band’s touring run.
After the band's initial reunion tour was postponed and rescheduled, Martyn LeNoble announced his amicable departure from the band on November 13, 2023 in an Instagram post: "I’m so excited for the world to hear "Agua" and the other unreleased material from our recent sessions. There is a real connection between these new songs and how we’ve grown. We’ve mended our friendships and recorded these songs with love. I think you will hear that in the recordings. I’ve changed. I like quiet and nature. With that being said, I will be following my passion for wildlife and will not be part of the upcoming tour. I wish my brothers Perry, Pete and Stephen the best. I’m truly grateful for every moment I spent with them. Most importantly, thank you to all of you for all of the amazing support and memories."
