After dipping their toe into the water of anniversary shows earlier this year, Interpol has decided that they had enough fun the first time around to do a few more concerts commemorating their albums Turn On the Bright Lights and Antics.

While performing at the Philharmonie de Paris on July 5 as part of the Days Off 2023 festival, the band took the stage and played Antics, originally released in 2024, in complete order. The following month, on August 11, they performed a show at San Francisco’s Outside Lands and played Turn On the Bright Lights to celebrate the album's 21st anniversary. (Hey, who cares if it isn't an even-numbered year? When an album's old enough to drink legally, that's got to be worth celebrating, right?)
Frontman Paul Franks indicated as far back as in a 2019 interview with NME that he was into the idea of doing an anniversary tour for Antics.
“I feel like there was a moment of reticence when we talked about [touring to celebrate] Turn On The Bright Lights, which was ameliorated or abated by the fact that we were deep into a new release and facing forward with new work [with Marauder]," said Franks. "I needed that in order to be able to look back and celebrate an older record. Since that, a lot of fans have told us that it was fun as shit. To see a band go back and play a whole record from top to bottom, I like it. I don’t know if there’s any thought about doing that for Antics, but I’m not categorically opposed. I find those kind of shows to just be fun celebrations.”
Now, there’s only one catch to these new dates: they’re in South America. Per a post on Interpol’s official Instagram account, the band will be playing May 31 in Santiago, June 2 in Buenos Aires, June 5 in Rio de Janeiro, and June 7 in Sao Paulo.
On the other hand, it also says, "More to follow very soon..." Could this possibly indicate that there'll be a series of North American dates yet to come? Well, there's certainly no guarantee that Americans and/or Canadians will soon be able to "Say Hello to the Angels" in a live setting, but with the possibly teasing tone that closes that post, it doesn't mean that it couldn't happen.
