Elvis Costello & The Imposters will be heading back to the US in 2024 for a short 15-date tour in the South and Southwest.
The "7-0-7" tour will again include guitarist Charlie Sexton who was with the band earlier this year. Costello is in the middle of finishing up dates in Belgium, Hungary and Switzerland, after a summer go-round that saw the band hitting venues in June and July with fellow Costello cohort Nick Lowe and his band Los Straightjackets as the opener.
Costello has been on a streak the last few years, both with new material and celebratory anniversaries from his extensive back catalog. His most recent release 2022's The Boy Named If was lauded for it's return to a rock 'n' roll environment and gave him a Grammy nomination for 'Best Rock Album.' However, his most recent release from March of this year The Songs of Bacharach & Costello is a compilation of 1998's Painted From Memory as well as miscellaneous recordings of the duo's compilations by other artists and a few new tracks. Costello called the compilation "a love letter to Burt."
One would assume that Costello is a road warrior at this point in his life and judging by his output — ten record released since 2018 and three tours — this looks like a man on a mission. Most recently Costello played the highly-acclaimed "100 Songs and More", a ten-night engagement at the Gramercy Theater in New York City at which he played more than 230 original songs, repeating only three titles.
