Duran Duran were named Q Icons at yesterday’s (19 October) Q Awards In Association With Absolute Radio, and you can watch them discussing the importance of pop imagery and iconography below now.
Speaking backstage after receiving their award, the band consider their own pop icons, the importance of creating a world and more.
“Projecting an image was very important when we started, it was almost as important as the music I think,” Simon Le Bon tells Q. “I got the job because of trousers…”
And…
“His name!” quips Nick Rhodes, “which we didn’t believe was real at the time, but hey!”
