Animal Collective frontman Panda Bear releases his fifth solo album on Monday (12 January) and he’s given Q an exclusive guide to the record.
The singer – real name Noah Lennox – has talked through Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper track-by-track and you can listen to the full interview below.
In it he explains how a chance record playing at a party led to Peter Kember, AKA Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom, producing the album, plus he discusses the influence of his new hometown of Libson, PlayStation games and his “spirit animal” on his songs.
Lennox also reveals many of the samples and ideas – including one song written from the point of view of a disease – behind Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper.
