Jamie T has just released new song Tinfoil Boy today (30 June), and he’s spoken to Q about its creation.
The song, which is streaming below, is his first work since the sessions for 2014 album Carry On Up The Grudge and the Magnolia Melancholia EP.
“The song was written and recorded last year in Detroit during a month of sessions we did out there,” he tells Q introducing the track, adding that Tinfoil Boy features a vocal contribution from actress Florence Bell, who recently appeared in the film Blood & Water.
“I was keen to put samples on the track but could not find anything right,” he explains. “So I got Florence in and got her to recite some bits and pieces I had written.”
Having previously left long gaps between his album, following this surprise release listeners may well expect a new album to be on the way, not that Jamie is feeling pressured to do a quick follow up.
