The song is taken from his new solo album Assorted Promenades (out 15 September), which he bills as a “soundtrack to a film that doesn’t exist”.
The record is being released by Tim Burgess‘ label O Genesis after the pair witnessed a motor mishap while touring The Charlatans man’s solo record.
“Somewhere near motorway services on the M4 close to Reading, Martin and I drove past an abandoned car on the hard shoulder that was on fire,” notes Burgess. “It was seen as a very oblique sign that O Genesis should release the first solo material by Duffy.”
