Petite Noir, real name Yannick Ilunga, releases his debut album La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful on Friday (22 September). We put five questions to the he half-Congolese, half-Angolan singer.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
I think Idris Elba would do a good job… But they’ll probably give George Clooney the gig.
WHAT are you currently working on?
Touring my debut album La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful. The tour started this summer with some festivals in Europe, and my band and I have just played Afropunk in NYC. We’re looking forward to this month when we play our London Lexington show (15 September) and Rough Trade east in-store the day before. Then we hit up UK and European cities. I’ve already started to write Album Number 2 too so that’s exciting
WHY do you do that thing you do?
Because I LOVE it. It’s just that simple.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
With a happy family (and having sold millions of album, of course).
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
Next Monday?
