Former Arab Strap man Malcolm Middleton returns with solo new album Summer Of ’13 on 27 May, and is introducing his first single from the record exclusively via Q.

“Steps was the song that gave life to the new album and gave me the impetus to tie it all together and finish it. I threw everything at it, there are about eight drum kits playing at one point! It’s a simple song, with a big chorus, maybe the verses are a bit gloomy but it’s very funny. I was thinking about asking Jools Holland to play piano on this but I ended up doing a better job myself.”
