It would appear that Miles Kane can’t wait to get outside. With his second album Don’t Forget Who You Are, due out on 3 June in time for the festivals (including a spot at Glastonbury) you can see why the former Rascal is keen for the sun to start shining (though it seems he, along with the rest of the UK, may be in for a long wait). Still with an 11 date UK tour in May to get through first why not get the festival feeling going earlier. He’s compiled us a Playlist of “festival bangers” to do just that.
The Stone Roses – This Is The One
“Saw them at Hultsfred last year – this was the highlight for me – definitely try and see them in the summer. Hopefully they’ll be some new material played out too.”
Arctic Monkeys – When The Sun Goes Down
“I’ve seen them play this so many times at festivals and it still has exactly the same reaction. Everyone going fucking mental! It’s not just festivals either; it’s an undeniably good tune to get everyone going.”
Noel Gallagher – Everybody’s On The Run
“Class song from his record, not had the chance to hear this live at a festival yet, hopefully be able to in the summer. Its part of a great record, I’m sure it’ll be up there alongside some of the older material.”
Kasabian – L.S.F.
“This is one for the moshpits – really gets the crowd frothing, it’s from their first album and shows what a class tune it is that it gets the crowd rocking.”
Prodigy – Invaders Must Die
“Filthy track – best heard late into the night! The bass is huge, recommendation is to get right up close to the speakers and pick your face up the following morning.”
Beady Eye – The Roller
“Perfect summer tune for the summer of love. Feel-good record to sing-a-long to, got a great groove to it and Liam bosses it.”
Tame Impala – Elephant
“Been lucky enough to play some shows with Tame Impala, and for me they’re an ideal candidate for festival band of summer. Lonerism is one of the records of the last 12 months, and with the sun setting, tunes like this will make a lot of people very happy.”
Jack White – Blunderbuss
“One of the my most listened to records of last year. He’s a massive hero of mine, so even if he’s not playing festivals this summer get this on the stereo in the campsite and set yourself up.”
Janelle Monae – Tightrope
“Really impressed with her as a performer, someone I’d love to do a duet with in the future. Puts on a great live show, amazing energy. This is a cracking tune.”
The Black Keys – Lonely Boy
“This song went everywhere when it came out, I’d imagine at festivals now everyone goes mental for it. One of many highlights in their set nowadays, great band.”
