Earlier this month, fans of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band were seriously bummed to learn that their beloved "Boss" was suffering from peptic ulcer disease and, as a result, was going to have to postpone all of their September shows. Fortunately, with no shows planned for October, it looked like he was going to have plenty of time to recover. Unfortunately, however, that doesn't seem to have been the case: the Springsteen camp announced today that our man Bruce is going to need a bit longer, so now he's taking off the remainder of 2023.

That said, he's making a point of underlining that upon the release of the revised tour dates - which remain TBD at present, although it's confirmed that the shows will still take place at the venues where they'd originally been scheduled - if ticketholders aren't able to reconcile their schedules to attend the new dates, they'll have 30 days to secure a refund.

Mind you, it's hard to imagine any self-respecting Springsteen fan saying, "Nah, can't make it," especially not when, in their heart of hearts, they know they'd quit their job rather than miss a Springsteen show. But at least they've got the option.

Springsteen fans in Italy losing their mind over having the Boss in their presence

The full text of the tour update, which appeared on Springsteen's social media platforms this morning, reads as follows:

Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice. With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024. Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, all taking place at their originally scheduled venues. When the new 2024 dates are announced, those unable to attend on the new date who have purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have 30 days to request a refund. All tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.

Said Springsteen, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year!”
