Sorting through the week’s new singles and songs that have surfaced online over the last seven days, Jamie Skey (@jamie_skey) presents five songs you need to hear this week…

Acclaimed rock producer Butch Walker is some kind of musical drifter, having wandered from early hair-metal band SouthGang to a more poppy proposition with The Marvelous 3. More recently, the one-time Weezer enabler has taken a diversion down a grittier path, as the tortured-love epic of Bed Of Fire proves, with its lonesome-traveller guitar twangs and swelling strings.

Though they’re determined to keep their identities concealed, UK beat collective Croox make no bones about which artists they’d like to adopt into their extended musical family i.e. Fka Twigs, The Weeknd. Their latest dispatch Oracle is a dank, enigmatic puff of late-night hip-hop.

Villagers’ Conor O’Brien took some time out to record a track with countryman Richie Egan, better known as Jape, and the result is the funky, psychotropic Ribbons Ribbons Ribbons, which is given added high definition by Jungle and Caribou producer David Wrench.

Liverpool trio All We Are have toured with Jungle, Warpiant and London Grammar, and, judging by the psychedelic boogie of Keep Me Alive, it won’t be long before they’re be headlining their own jaunts.
