Awesome Tapes From Africa will be DJing at this year’s Festival Number 6 (5-7 September). Having shined a light on a host of music to come out of the continent via his blog, Awesometapes.com we put five questions to Brian Shimkovitz ahead of his set.

Jeremy Piven.
WHAT are you currently working on?
Awesome tapes From Africa has three new releases coming out in the next three months, two LP reissues and a digital remixes EP.

WHY do you do that thing you do?
I am really interested in spreading African music around the world and giving the artists a bigger share of access to the international music industry.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I am hopefully releasing lots of interesting records and maintaining a large publishing catalog from a peaceful bunker in Chicago.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
I think if people ever decide to stop being so greedy we might all have a chance.
