Forgotten Fields will be luring a host of artist to Eridge Deer Park, an otherwise quiet corner of Sussex, on 7-9 August. Guiding us around its musical estate, organiser Andy Smith – who organises Kendall Calling too – has made Q this Playlist with his personal picks from this year’s bill.
Super Furry Animals – Hello Sunshine
“I’m so proud to say that this will be Super Furry Animal’s first festival since 2009. They’ll be coming to the festival off the back of a mostly sold-out UK tour, and it’ll be so exciting to see them back where they belong – on stage in front of beautiful surroundings and a few thousand people.”
Levellers – One Way
“Brighton stalwarts, with real staying power, Levellers continually release raucous uptempo folk-punk sing-along tunes. They’ve been around almost as long as I have, and I’m sure they’ll continue to be for much longer.”
Basement Jaxx – Red Alert
“We had them headlining Kendal Calling only two years ago, and I’m so pleased they’re back for our new festival. Always one of the most colourful and exciting stage shows currently around, Basement Jaxx never fail to wow… I will definitely be having a dance to this one.”
Razorlight – Somewhere Else
“Razorlight are one of those bands with more sing-along back catalogue tunes than you know what to do with. One thing I’d recommend doing is coming to see them at Forgotten Fields and singing those tunes at the top of your voice with arms around shoulders of some good friends (old or new!)… Happiness!”
De La Soul – Days Of Our Lives
“The Kendal Calling crowd went wild for De La Soul on our main stage last year, so bringing them down to Forgotten Fields was a no-brainer. Festivals can often have quite guitar-heavy lineups, so artists like De La Soul add some brilliant variety, with a range of styles from funk to hip hop and back again.”
Public Service Broadcasting – Gagarin
“We’ve had the new album on in the office on repeat, and I feel like they’ve really hit their stride with this one. The video is truly a joy to behold.”
The Horrors – Still Life

I’ve been lucky enough to see them play sell-out gigs in London and Manchester and can’t wait for the Forgotten Fields audience to experience their show.”
Get Inuit – Coping With Death In A Nutshell
“As Kendal Calling has grown, we’ve been able to give the local bands who supported us from the beginning a more national platform, and I hope that Forgotten Fields will go the same way. Our Horizons stage is filled exclusively with regional acts, and Get Inuit are one of the most exciting new bands from Kent that we’ve come across. Perfect indie-pop.”
Kassassin Street – To Be Young
“I think every Kassassin Street show I’ve ever tried to go to has been sold out. An incredible live band… their new single has been produced by the guy who produces Frank Turner who I’m a big fan of, so can’t go wrong! Having mostly stayed local to Portsmouth in the last year, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of Kassassin Street around the country in the next 12 months.”
