Manchester’s Heaton Park is set to host the Parklife Festival (you’d have never got away with that in the Britpop years) again this summer (6-7 June). Organiser Robert Masterson, Promotions Manager at Warehouse Project, gives us his personal guide to the line-up.
Disclosure – Latch
“Guy and Howard made our new open-air Temple stage their own last year with one of the biggest crowds of the weekend. We’re very excited to have them back.”
The Roots – The Seed (2.0)
“A big one – the legendary house band from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, led by the world-renowned Questlove, make their only UK festival appearance of the summer.”
James Bay – Hold Back The River
“James Bay is at a huge tipping point, about to become one of 2015’s biggest success stories. Will be one of the weekend’s biggest sets.”
Metronomy – Love Letters
“The Devon band’s about-turn, from electro-indie to Motown-infused pop, made Love Letters one of our favourite albums of last year, and the title-track one to catch at Parklife 2015.”
Jungle – Busy Earnin’
“There’s no shortage of incredible tunes on their debut album, but Busy Earnin’ remains the highlight of every Jungle set.”
FKA Twigs – Two Weeks
“Twigs is one of the most extraordinary performers around, with an incredibly theatrical live show to accompany one of 2014’s finest albums.”
Chet Faker – Talk Is Cheap
“Chet’s rise from DIY producer to having a unique cult following has seen him win Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown of 2014’s best tracks in his native Australia. A hidden gem at this year’s weekender.”
Grace Jones – Pull Up To The Bumper
“Grace is a very special guest on the Main Stage, and it’s a privilege for us to welcome her to this year’s festival. A true icon of new-wave, across five(!) decades.”
Caribou – All I Ever Need
“An unlikely highlight from last year’s Our Love, but its off-kilter intro explodes into one of the most euphoric live moments we’ve experienced in a long time.”
George Ezra – Budapest
“George is one of the UK’s most exciting new songwriters as witness at this year’s BRIT Awards, and a hilarious follow on Twitter.”
Rudimental – Waiting All Night
“Waiting All Night is sure to be one of the biggest singalongs of the whole weekend, and the perfect close to Sunday’s Main Stage.”
