Summer festival fixtures the Reading And Leeds Festivals return 28-30 August with Metallica and Mumford & Sons already announced as headliners. To give us a feel for the line-up booker Jon Mac has made Q a Playlist of his personal picks from the 2015 bill.
Royal Blood – Out of The Black
“Best opening riff to a rock song in about 10 years. They will own Leeds & Reading in 2015, watch out!”
Metallica – Master Of Puppets
“The title track from arguably their heaviest album and a favourite for any true Metallica fan. It’s nearly nine minutes long but it doesn’t feel like it.”
Pierce The Veil – Bulletproof Love
“From San Diego. This band’s debut at Reading And Leeds is long overdue. With an avid fan base and a great live show this song will be a set highlight.”
Bastille – Things We Lost In The Fire
A firm favourite with the Leeds And Reading audience, they grew up through the Festivals. There will be new music before August but in the mean time this song is a real stand out.
Jamie T – Sheila
“With an incredible new album and a fantastic live show Jamie T is back on top. This song shows everything that is great about Jamie T – his lyrics are second to none.”
Catfish & The Bottlemen – Cocoon
“Best song from their debut album. One of 2015’s strongest indie bands, and great live.”
Run The Jewels – Blockbuster Night Part 1
“Indie hip hop at its best. Make sure you check out their incredible live show. The crowd will go crazy for this lot.”
Deadmau5 – Strobe
“Making his first appearance at Reading And Leeds since 2009 Deadmau5 will surprise everyone this year. He’s one of the best received announcements this year and will come with a huge production.”
Manchester Orchestra – April Fool
“Incredible live, this band hit the heart strings with every note. This track comes from their 2011 album Simple Math.”
Wilkinson – Too Close
“He killed it this year so we’re having him back in 2015. With a bag full of massive tunes and an incredible production it will be packed for his show.”
