Having just kicked off theirUK tour – they play Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge tonight (5 March), we put five questions to Coves’ Beck Wood and John Ridgard… and got ten answers!
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
JR: Someone fresh from acting school that you havent heard of, the film would be very low budget you see. Probably recorded on one of those old cameras that take full size VHS.
BW: I would have boo to play me and yogi bear to play john, I think it’s about time that cartoons comes back into play.
WHAT are you currently working on?
JR: Pipe dreams, long songs, distorted drums.
BW: Lyric Mania!
WHY do you do that thing you do?
JR: Because when I am working on music, no one can talk to me and there is no beige in the world.
BW: Because if I didn’t do that thing I do then the thing I do wouldn’t be a thing.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
JR: Unshaven, 15 kids, nervous breakdown. Occasionally I will look back on these times and smile, but that smile will be brief.
BW: Owning Beaconsfield Service Station.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
JR: I once supplied a can of Chunky Chicken Supreme to my primary school’s harvest festival. It was rejected and returned to my mum. With this attitude, I am going to say never.
BW: I think I would reject a can of Chunky Chicken Supreme too.
