If you fancy wearing (or at least owning) something previously worn by one of your favourite artists, look no further than the annual Rumble In The Jumble sale. The latest one, organised by The Music Circle, takes place on 14 May at Oval Space in London. Swag from Kate Moss, Ricky Wilson, Paloma Faith, Foals, Mark Ronson, Annie Mac, Toddla T, All Saints, Primal Scream, Jess Glyne and many more will be on sale. To introduce this year’s sale, Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney explains how she got into pestering bands for a good cause.
If you are reading this. You are one of the lucky ones. Rumble In The Jumble is now in it’s FITH year and I can safely say – to know Rumble In The Jumble is to know your staple music adoring, cool-thing loving, annual activity, of charitable, treasure hunt, shopping FOR LIFE.
That sounds far fetched. But it’s true. Ever since me and some mates drunk some wine at an Oxfam event five years ago and came up with the concept of trying to sell celebrities old clothes for a cracking cause many lives have changed, we have raised over £60,000 towards empowering women’s lives from the Democratic Republic of The Congo to Myanmar via Oxfam.
Also, right now, someone out there is the new owner of Elton John’s baby blue Versace suit, Yannis from Foals’ shell jacket and Beth Ditto’s best party dress too! Rumble In The Jumble is a chance for those to not only rifle through some of their favourite’s clothes at prices from a fiver but a chance to rifle through scattered music memorabilia, signed books at the carefully curated library corner all that and you get lunch, dance to some tunes whist a DJ eggs on spends from a stage and you can drink beer. Come, bring your spouses and friends, bring everyone.
