Former T’Pau leader Carol Decker is set to publish her autobiography next week (26 January) and mount a tour – including a Q&A section – that begins tomorrow (21 January) at the Hippodrome Casino in London before heading round the country. She answers five questions for us.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Jennifer Lawrence, because in a movie I can be a lot taller and a lot better looking! Also I like her, I think she is a great modern-day actress I think she could bring the right tone to playing a gobby redhead in a rock band.
WHAT are you currently working on?
I am thinking through my set for my acoustic tour for 2016, but i can’t play the acoustic guitar so it could be a problem! Seriously though, we go out on the Songs and Stories tour to promote my autobiography Heart And Soul at the end of the month and I have never done an acoustic tour before so I am finding it challenging and a bit scary. I have made a commitment to do some Q&A too, an evening with… sort of thing. I can usually hide behind a band and a big stage. I find smaller gigs scarier.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
I do get fed up of singing sometimes, I’ve been doing it for over 30 years now, but I can’t actually do anything else. I tried a few things and I was shit at them. I find it difficult to conform and have found a way of living my life, more or less, on my own terms through music and that is a very privileged position to be in.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Retired on the Costa Brava running a bar called Dun Rockin’! I don’t like to look that far ahead as I’ll be 68 and that makes me worry about snuffing it in the not too distant future. Where did the years go?!
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
Oh thats easy! Just get rid of religion, politics, corrupt banks and evil despots and it will all be fine. Sadly I don’t think there ever will be a harvest for the world. There could however be a Harvester For The world, with reasonably priced food for all and a cheap pint…
