With Manchester’s highly-rated Blossoms having releasing their Charlemagne EP last month(30 October), we felt it high time to put five questions to Holy Roman Emperor-obsessed (possibly) frontman Tom Ogden.

WHO would play you in the film of you life?

If James Stewart was still around in his Vertigo days id have gone with him, but we’ll go with Paddy Considine.

WHAT are you currently working on?

Our debut album at Parr Street a Studios in Liverpool, produced by James Skelly and Rich Turvey. This week we’re going to be recording a song called Smashed Pianos, it’s one of the most recent songs I wrote so we’re going to be going at it with a really fresh stance. That’s the joy of being in the studio with a new tune, there’s no rules to what direction it’s going to take.

WHY do you do that thing you do?

In Year 8 music class we all got asked to write a song for the 2006 World Cup and the teacher liked my song that much she left everybody’s else songs and made the class record mine. I guess that’s where it began…

WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?

We’d like a blue plaque in Stockport. Fred Perry has one.

WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?

When The Smiths reform.
