Proto-punks Graham Parker & The Rumour have returned to release album Mystery Glue this week (18 May). The man himself, Mr Parker, has answered five Q questions.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Gary Johnston. He is a marionette in the movie Team America: World Police. His voice is done by Trey Parker who is one of the brains behind South Park. He and Team America save the world from Kim Jong-il. He’d nail me.
WHAT are you currently working on?
On tour as a duo with guitarist Brinsley Schwarz (promoting album Mystery Glue) which involves 22-and-a-half hours of answering emails and one and a half hours of playing.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
I can’t stop writing damn songs which sets the whole thing in motion again. It’s like an annoying tap that keeps dripping.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Still trying to retire but they won’t let me.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
I have two custard fruit plants about six inches tall grown from seed. Expect a bumper crop in 2030. Problem solved.
