Having occupied various roles in the music industry – promotor, producer, A&R man, DJ and more – as electronic music made its way from the fringes into the mainstream, Paul Oakenfold is taking stock by releasing a collection celebrating the 25 years of Perfecto Records.
Having toured with U2 and produced Happy Mondays, alongside running the label, the DJ spoke to Q’s Paul Stokes about dance music’s evolution to a place where his successors now achieve genuine mainstream stardom (sometimes with his help as he’s been training the new EDM wizards).
