Röyksopp released their fifth and final album, The Inevitable End, yesterday (10 November). So that’s it? Well note quite, Svein Berge has five questions to tackle first…
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Benicio Del Toro, heavyily influenced by his performance as Dr Gonzo, combined with Jesse Ventura, pouring out his soul and gun in a Blain-esque fashion.
WHAT are you currently working on?
Well, we’ve just released our new album, The Inevitable End (some additional plugging there…), so we’re working on promoting that. And of course we’re making some new music; we’re really working and milking our old synths. They’re bleeding.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
It’s the best place for my to dispose of or deal with my emotions – any emotions. It’s almost autonomic, cause if I didn’t make music, I’d walk around making noises with my mouth, tapping beats with my hands and hum melodies – which would be very annoying to my surroundings. Seriously, that’s no lie – if I don’t get in there, making music, I’ll be tourettes-boy on speed.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Still making music in one way or another, watching my skin closely for those first liver spots.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
As in world peace? The day all humanity has reached a higher understanding, where prejudice and xenophobia is no more. And then one would have to think of something clever with regards to religion, famine and greed… Hmmm, it’s getting both very John Lennon and tricky here – I believe we would have to reboot the very nature of human beings, void of all those things. Perhaps introduce “Human v.2” – then it’ll be aaaaallright.
