Austin psyche-legends The Black Angels released EP Clear Lake Forest this week (21 Monday). However that’s only the start of it, as frontman Alex Maas reveals answering five questions for us, there are plenty of projects and collaborations on the go…
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Denzel Washington.
WHAT are you currently working on?
1. Writing a new Black Angels record.
2. Writing music with Pablo Clements and James Griffith of UNKLE for a new project. Trying to get vocal to sit right in a motion picture with these guys.
3. Working as a co-producer in Water Moccasin with Brett Orrison, making music for film and assortment of documentaries Indian 101 and Land Art as well as co-producing bands Think No Think, The Digital Wils, Ride Into the Sun.
4. Writing music with Rishi Dhir and Thom from The Horrors for so secret project the Chemical Society doesn’t even know about yet. Just bouncing ideas around…
5. In studio doing cover a Love Is All Around by The Troggs for a non profit HAAM: Healthcare Alliance for Austin musicians.
6. Ambassador to Austin Psych Fest & Levitation Festival Angers, France.
7. Sorting music for a potential solo release.
8. Project called META – trippy Bjork-ish big black beats.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
It feels good and it’s a challenge. It makes me feel.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
Hopefully with children rolling around in the grass, laughing with my family. Paying the bills through music.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
Soon.
