Hot Chip frontman Alexis Taylor releases his solo album Await Barbarians today (16 June), plus kicks off his UK tour at The Vortex in London tonight. To find out what he’s doing by himself we gave him five redoubtable questions to tackle.

WHAT are you currently working on?
Macbook Air. Mid 2012 model 128GB Harddrive, 2GB RAM, Firefox web browser.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
I love it and don’t seem to stop wanting to sing, hit notes on keyboards, drums or guitars or put drum machines through effects pedals and into amps. I don’t question any of that.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Parents’ Evening, followed by soundcheck, followed by pub, followed by gig in small venue, followed by world tour in bigger venues but smaller than current size bigger venues we play, followed by small recording studio, followed by small venue gig, followed by frightening super-club dj set, followed by the bath, the hotel bed and then the flight home.
