Possibly among the most qualified artists out there – she’s studied at Cambridge and Harvard – singer-songwriter Sasha Siem is releasing single Proof for Record Store Day (19 April). With a who at London’s Village Underground on 10 June, we decided to test her academic and pop prowess with our five questions.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Olive Oyl!
WHAT are you currently working on?
I’ve just finished recording an album in Iceland with Valgeir Sigurosson. Now that there’s some space, I’m daring myself back into the void…
WHY do you do that thing you do?
KD Lang wrote in an amazing book of poems that are more like nursery rhymes for adults. Here’s one that tickles me:
I am doing it/ The it I am doing is/ The I that is doing it/ The I that is doing it is/ The it I am doing
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Isn’t one of the joys of being here the fact that the seemingly unimaginable and the unbelievable can occur? As much as I love the idea of owning a crystal ball I think I’d miss the thrill of the search, of the revelation.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
When we clean up our trash. There’s potentially a harvest every day.
