Everyone’s favourite Aussie indie dance crew Jagwar Ma are back in the northern hemisphere next month to kick summer a little earlier than usual. Not only do they play BBC Radio 6‘s festival in Manchester next week (1 March), they have their own shows kicking off at Manchester Academy 2 (10 May) in the spring, including a stop at Brixton Electric (14). To find out what they’re up to when they’re not making rooms of people dance, Gabriel Winterfield (right) answered five questions for us.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
I would like to be played by Steve Buscemi. We have the same eyes.
WHAT are you currently working on?
Sketching new ideas for a record, practicing trumpet.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
Hmm, to keep the context ambiguous, because some people do some things and other people do other things.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Making music on an island. Taking inspiration from the saying “paradise is an island, so is hell”.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
Probably when everyone believes it’s possible… Which may or may not happen.
