Who? Much sort after guitarist and collaborator – he’s helped worked with the likes of Gorillaz, Noel Gallagher, Brian Eno and more – steps out in his own right.
Why now? This track is taken from Wootton’s debut album The Way The Light. “The album is a sonic exploration, a headphone record, I recorded with [Daniel Lanois collaborator] Mark Howard in a studio installation that we built then tore down after the record was finished,” he explains. “This track also features a rare african instrument called an Imzad which I recorded in Mali with Damon Albarn.” An album release date and live shows will be announced soon, but tonight (4 July) he’ll be taking part in the Africa Express at Roskilde Festival.
