Jamie xx says he will release a solo album next year – but has no idea when The xx will return with a record.
Speaking to Simon McEwen in our latest issue, Q342 out now, the producer/ percussionist explains his own LP has been a long time in the making.
“There’ll be an album next year, I think. It’s three years of work, so the music will be a broad spectrum of stuff,” he says.
In terms of collaborations, he confirmed that his bandmates will appear on the record, but their next full xx record is a way off.
“When’s the next xx due? I’ve no idea,” he admits. “We’re just enjoying the moment and I really couldn’t say if it’ll come out next year.”
