King Charles new album, Gamble For A Rose, was produced by Marcus Mumford – and you can watch the pair talking about its creation below.
Set for release early next year (22 January), the Mumford & Sons frontman got behind the desk for his friend’s new record and Q is premiering a short film about their collaboration.
“At the end of the summer last year we were talking about ideas and plans for the next year,” Charles tells Q of their work together. “Marcus was already in the studio for the third Mumford record and I was making plans for what I wanted to do. He was interested in more production gigs and I just wanted to get into the studio and make the record that was burning in my ears. It seemed fanciful at the time but came together and has resulted in quite an album.”
For his part Mumford was keen to showcase his friend’s abilities rather than show off his new skills, explaining: “I wanted to make an album that was focused on his guitar playing and singing, that was focuses more on his songs than the production.”
