“I was 11 years old when I first heard Hounds Of Love and it was the album which opened my heart to music. She was a woman who seemed to be describing the world from a point of view to which I could directly relate. I was living a boring suburban existence in Hertfordshire so this spooky, sexy woman really spoke to the emergent me. Waking The Witch is the track that really takes me back to that moment of epiphany. It’s haunting and eerie and the song’s idea of a school master waking a child is kind of macabre but it had a powerful effect. And I don’t think you can listen to Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) and not be profoundly moved. As a young girl I really felt that through Kate Bush I was wrestling with some of the profound questions of the universe. Back then she was my imaginary, slightly bonkers, older sister.”
