The Smile, the side project of Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet's Tom Skinner, have announced the January 26, 2024 release of Wall Of Eyes, via XL Recordings.
Ahead of the album, not-so-clandestine media coverage was spotted by fans as posters were put up at London's Prince Charles Cinema for a "project" linking The Smile and director Paul Thomas Anderson. It's been confirmed that project is a video for the title track, starring a multitude of Thom Yorkes.
Guitarist Greenwood had worked previously with Anderson on the soundtracks for Licorice Pizza, There Will Be Blood and The Master. He mentioned to NME earlier in the year that not having the opportunity to play in a band (mostly due to the pandemic), The Smile had a "big backlog of ideas" for new music. This has resulted in their new LP, which was recorded in Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, and was produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies.
Having completed summer dates across North America, the group have now announced 2024 European dates and venues.
